Rutland House is our home as well as home to three elderly dogs and a cat, Lucy, Millie, Blue are the canines whilst Clio is the rather shy feline. The dogs will be kept out of your rooms. You will come face to face with them at some point of your stay. Lucy, as shown in a favourite pose resting under the desk, is a devil for edging herself onto the sofa and she may well join you should you sit in the lounge reading. Please only come and stay with us if you are happy to be put in that position. Equally if you have a sociable dog we are happy to accommodate.

Rutland House is a no smoking establishment. If you are willing to brave the elements then we have no problem with smokers taking to the garden to indulge.

There is a guest lounge with TV, access to the garden room and further access to the garden itself. The garden is our pride and joy and is a little oasis in the outskirts of the busy town. There is a rill which runs diagonally across the garden and accordingly it is not suitable for unaccompanied children. During the week breakfast is served in the main dining / reading room with an option during the summer and at weekends of eating al-fresco.

We offer a choice of breakfast menus and where possible all our ingredients used will be organic at best and free-range at a minimum. We can cater for a number of dietary requirements but please specify this at the time of booking.
