Rutland House Bed & Breakfast.

In a very convenient position being just a 15 minute stroll into Colchester Town. Rutland House Bed and Breakfast is a "home from home" from which to enjoy the many amenities that this historic former capital has to offer. Colchester has easy access to and from the main A12 and A120 routes allowing for a direct approach to Stanstead Airport and the ports of East Anglia. London is between 50 minutes to an hour away by train and a regular service operates from Colchester Station approximately 2 miles away.

For those guests arriving by car there is ample off-street car parking and for those that arrive by train we can collect from the station by prior arrangement.

Rutland House is our home as well as home to three dogs and a cat, Millie, Louis and Grace are the canines whilst Cleo is the rather shy feline. The dogs will be kept out of your rooms but you will come face to face with them at some point. Please only come and stay with us if you are happy to be put in that position. Equally if you have a sociable dog we are happy to try and accommodate them. We offer 2 double rooms and 1 king size room all decorated to a high standard with tea & coffee, TV with Freeview & integrated DVD. We have Wireless net work connection.

Rutland House is a no smoking establishment. If you are willing to brave the elements then we have no problem with smokers taking to the garden to indulge.

There is a guest lounge with TV. The garden is our pride and joy and is a little oasis in the outskirts of the busy town. There is a rill which runs diagonally across the garden and accordingly it is not suitable for unaccompanied children. During the week breakfast is served in the main dining / reading room with an option during the summer and at weekends of eating al-fresco.

We offer a choice of breakfast menus and where possible all our ingredients used will be organic at best and free-range at a minimum and locally sourced. We can cater for a number of dietary requirements but please specify this at the time of booking.
